The issue of the confusing 747 seat map situation is not an issue for the SIN-AKL-SIN because the seat map that appears for every 747 flight is the seat map for the MH747 (AKL). So if you are flying to AKL, it appears that the seat map that pops up is the right seat map. I am flying SIN-NRT, and the seat map that pops up is this odd seat map. Only after extensive research and help from posts here did I figure out that every 747 flight will show this odd seat map. Only by clicking on the "NEXT" link at the top do the other seat maps appear. For example if you are flying from HKG-SFO on a 747, it does not appear that a thread titled "SQ's leased MH 747 (AKL)" has anything to do with a HKG-SFO flight. I think there are in fact two topics. 1. SQ's leased MH 747 (AKL). And 2. The First 747 Seat Map That Pops Up In Not Your Seat Map (unless you are flying SIN-AKL). If that first seat map is mainly for SIN-AKL-SIN, SQ should plainly state that on the map. The seat map numbering is the problem. If you are flying HKG-SFO and use the first seat map that pops up and don't notice the "NEXT" link, you may pick the worst business class seat, thinking you are getting a comfortable seat on the upper deck.
