Do you have something exciting to do in Laramie or are you just killing time? I decided on a whim that I was going to drive to WY one day about 7 years ago, when I was working in restaurants and had Tuesday-Wednesday off. I drove to Cheyenne and decided there wasn't anything to see there, then went to Laramie and it was a little nicer. But--if you're just driving for the sake of driving you'll probably be disappointed like I was. The I-80 corridor gets more entertaining as you get farther towards the Utah border.

Agreed that 287 traffic through Ft Collins traffic is bad. As for scenery, you'd be heading the wrong direction, it's all west
