Shoes off (and thumbs down) at CDG

Flew from T2D yesterday morning and there was a very long and slow line at the Priority 1 Lane - reason : they were insisting that everyone take off their shoes to go through the detector!

When I questioned this I was told that it was a new rule in CDG since late last week.

Is this true or was this an uniformed/zealous controller?

If this is a new rule I will have to remove five minutes from my sleep timetable and make sure I'm wearing socks without holes!
