Cell phones are in some, and most cases, a necessity.
UALover, I gather you are a young person and so perhaps you don't realize that back in the old days we not only didn't have CDs, DVDs and laptops, but also no cell phones. We, as a species, actually got along just fine for many, many years without them. Food, water, shelter are necessities. Cell phones never have been and never will be necessities. You will probably lead a much happier, more stress-free life if you don't convince yourself you need to be reachable by phone every minute of every day.
