Cell phones are in some, and most cases, a necessity. With costs getting lower and lower by the day (I just saw an add for $9.99 for the phone and $20.00 a month for 100 minutes, "perfect for your teen" advertisement!) , more and more people will be carrying them. Its no longer a luxury item, its an item, like any other. In fact, most kids in my school have one, but never use it, as a security measure and a way for a guaranteed ride home. But anyway, to get to the point...

On a flight DEN-ASE, a guy next to me was using his phone. This, after he was asked nicely to put it away 2 times by 2 different flight attendants. As we were rolling down the taxiway, it rang. And the flight attendant made a great announcement "We understand that many travelers on this route are business flyers, and we respect the urgency of any and all of your work. However, FAA regulations prohibit the use of Cellular Phones. United Airlines is implementing a new device that lets us pinpoint the cell phone user to his or her seat. That user will be fined an undisclosed amount of money. Thank-you." . That made him turn it off right away!

I later asked the flight attendant if it was true, and of course, it was not, but it worked!
