I actually really like the 767 J cabin, especially over the 777 dorm.

And 1A is my fave seat, and it is certainly available on the majority of transatlantic routes using the 767 IME. (Swanhunter, which longer routes did you have in mind?)

FWIW, on my last two 767 flights, service started only in one aisle as opposed to both. i.e. a horseshoe pattern with the right-hand side (i.e. F,J,K seats) starting from row 1 getting served first and the cart eventually came around to the left aisle starting from the last row with 1A,B,E being served last.

I'm not sure if this is standard procedure or was a one-off (or two-off!)? Meal orders were certainly taken by status however, as the purser whispered to me saying that I was the only Gold in the cabin and could have first pick at any of the mains. ^ (Especially relevant as only two hot-pots were loaded for a packed J cabin!)
