I already have an inverter with a cigarette lighter plug. Is there an Mpower to cigarette lighter adapter available?

Why did United not do like some other airlines, e.g. Lufthansa, and just use a 117 V outlet. Were they afraid that people would bring a hotplate to cook dinner if the food got any worse?
