In Sept. 2007 we took the ferry with some friends to Phi Phi Island from Phuket. The normal big boat I usually take is no longer in service so we traveled with another company. The boat was slow, very crowded and not very clean.
When we arrived at Phi Phi we had to transfer to Phi Phi Holiday Inn Palm Beach by long tail boat which took 45 minutes.
We loved everything about the resort except getting there.
Here is a streaming video I took of the restaurant and beautiful sunset from the hill at the resort.
We noticed a sea plane in front of the resort and asked the resort front desk about how we can book a flight back to Phuket. They made the proper arrangements and 3 days later we flew back to Phuket. The flight took only 15 minutes and it was wonderful. Flying over Phi Phi and up Pangnga Bay to the Phuket airport was spectacular.
They took our luggage out of the plane and put us in a van and drove us up to the front door of the airport, helped load our luggage into the trolly and we checked in for our flight to Bangkok, no hassle.
Here is the short streaming video of the flight Phi Phi Island to Phuket.
No more slow, crowded ferry for us.
The plane only has 9 seats but talking to the pilot, Mike, a Canadian, they are getting more and larger planes.
While we were at the resort two couples took the plane from Phi Phi to Koh Lanta, which would of took them most of the day if they took the two ferries, Phi Phi - Krabi, Krabi - Koh Lanta.
We rented a private speed boat for a day while at Koh Phi Phi and toured the surrounding islands.
Here is the streaming video of the island hopping and snorkeling trip.
Have fun, we did
