The main question I have might be best answered by someone within CO who has operational experience in this, but IIRC the jet stream path can only be predicted a short period in advance, like 3-7 days so wouldn’t all the a/c that fly the affected routes need their seats blocked on each and every flight? IDB’s could be used but that doesn’t seem like a good business decision. I wondered if they have some options with regard to adjusting cargo loads.

However, I applaud the decision to classify any delays as MX - wonder if that will set a precedent for other airlines in similar situations?
