Interlining with CO

Yes, I read the FAQs

I just want to make sure I have this right..

I'm flying to HNL on CO with a connection to LIH on AQ. I've done this before, but the interisland leg was on HA so the baggage moved seamlessly from EWR to LIH and all made it there at the same time

From what I understand, I will have to show the CO agent in EWR my AQ boarding pass and/or confirmation number in order for the bags to be checked through.

Is that correct?

If the agent is unfamiliar, is there anything I should tell them to do?
