I can't tell you how disappointed I was after getting off the plane in Seattle. The outbound was so great and the return was a total drag. Granted, I was not expected anything like the inaugural outbound and since this was a red-eye, I knew the service would be minimal. It started with the flight crew arriving late because of a shuttle bus issue. That happens, and there was an explanation from the first officer that the captain had to file certain paperwork for an over-the-water flight. The captain then came on and said that it would be mild to moderate turbulence during the first hour or two of the flight. He advised people to use the restrooms while we sat at the gate. Then 1/2 hour passes with no annoucements. The A F/A comes through with glasses of OJ and I overheard her say that they were putting more fuel on the plane. Why wasn't that announced, so we knew, instead it was complete silence. After takeoff, it was about an hour before the digeplayers were passed out and a drink order taken...okay, I can overlook that because the seat belt sign was illuminated. I knew this was a snack service, so about 2 hours into the flight, I received an ICE COLD chicken kabob. Pretty bad! I will say that the A F/A did come through the cabin regularly to check on us...that was nice. Watch a movie or two and was expecting coffee and maybe a fruit plate before arriving into Seattle...there was nothing!! A friend I was traveling with across the aisle asked another FA if there was a breakfast snack and her reply was, You were asleep! I wasn't and he wasn't either! Beside the A F/A, the rest of the crew look like they didn't want to be there. It was just a sad way to end a great trip to paradise. I've read other posts and heard that there was a menu service on the PDX-MCO redeye. Guess I thought the Kauai service would have the same. I would like to hear about anyone elses experience...maybe this was a fluke. Mahalo for listening!
