But surely this is a semi-double room! I've stayed with MrLapLap in a few rooms just like it. And we're back to confusing people with single rooms (for one) being exactly the same as semi-double rooms (for two) in everything but price.

I'm going to stick my neck out and maintain that the Kyoto Garden hotel pictures and room plans are pretty typical, albeit on the slightly roomy side, for Business/lower scale tourist hotels. There has been a shift in the past couple of years towards beds with duvets/comforters, so many places will seem a little brighter even though they are cramped.
