Most of the ones I've had have been for US$25, US$50 or US$100. I've always managed to use them up eventually at full value, but losing up to US$100 per booking by using UA directly is a
big waste.
The best method is to save the vouchers until booking something (eg. US domestic flights) which is available through UA at something like the travel agent price, it's just tedious.
