What I have done in the past is go online and pull the routing that works for the deep discount, but don't ticket the itinerary. I then call UA and shadow the reservation. I've done this 3 times and twice was able to come within 15% of the internet special. After customer service holds the reservation, I go and ticket it at the airport or CTO.
