No need to wait any longer.
As I predicted in on one of my previous posts the check in was as uneventful as it could have been. My boarding pass had been printed in advance and was waiting at the F/C business checking counter. ^
For some reason the BD FF# hadn't transferred to SQ, although I gave it via Expedia.co.uk and again yesterday when I used online check in. They inputed it and reprinted the BP. Now it shows the BD*G and there shouldn't be problems getting the flight credited.
They were not able to check me through to AKL but rather have to pick up the TG BP's @ SIN. My luggage was checked through to AKL.
There are two lounge options @ CMB. One is old airport lounge and the other is Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf Company's shop where you get a voucher for 1 Drink, 1 Main course, and 1 dessert. I asked from the person who was checking me in which one would be better and she suggested the Coffee shop.
The teas is good, the tuna ciabatta better than the fares that you normally would get in an airport lounge, and the blueberry cheese cake isn't bad either.
Even at 7:20AM it took an hour to get to the airport from Hilton and it would have taken a lot longer had we been stopped at one of the "security" check points that seem to be plentiful. They did seem to hassle Sri Lankans but we were waived through every time. The same was the SOP in the Colombo city as well.
They seem to play the national anthem at the airport once or twice in an hour. All Sri Lankans stop whatever they are doing. Luckily the song is somewhere between two to three minutes long.
IMHO there isn't that much to see in CMB itself. If you don't plan exploring other parts of Sri Lanka I would probably just do a quick turn at the airport.
My last three SQ flights previous week were all in F. I dunno how I survice in C where I cannot have my usual intake of DP and Krug.
