I am thinking about Marco Island but wonder if we would be better towards Ft. Myers area? I also thought about the Lauderdale area but not sure how much kayaking is there. We don't care about shopping and would rather have great location than luxury. In other words - a courtyard in the right place is fine. Any opinions on this would be much appreciated.

If you have any specific properties you like, I would love to know about them.
Thanks,

Marco actually has great access to the swamps where dolphins, birds etc are often found....I'm very familar with the area and can't think or any area in RSW which would give you the same easy access (from the beach in front of Marco you head south perhaps a mile, turn left and head maybe 0.4 of a mile and you're there)
