Well - not really - at best there are two sets of rules that appear contradictory. And the rules mean not what you say or think they mean unluckily - but what they actually state. Just choosing the set of rules you prefer doesn't negate the other set which was clearly the set the hotel were relying on! And the other rule on both sets which states that they can do what they like when they like overides both.
That would mean that Ambassadors and Royal Ambassadors have additional limitations on how they can use their points? I don't think so. I believe this is an issue with the hotel that should be brought up with PC customer service.

That's what I meant when saying "who is going to check if you stayed the night with your aunt" and the way to go to avoid problems with the check-in staff. Unless of course the reservation is for a "Single" room.
