Now at the Strings. Was told because it was an award stay I was not upgraded, but didnot really matter. The room is very nice albeit small, though well designed with anything I really need and certainly enough space for one person in a King room. Have view looking towards the Tokyo Tower and full expanse of the JR station, which for a train buff is perfect! (30th floor) Hotel is very quiet, relaxed. Will give the breakfast buffet a try in the morning.

Nice little cup of fresh blueberries and pineapple delivered to my room shortly after arrival in place of the more traditional fruit bowl. Two bottles of water, though not replaced on the second day. And the Ambassador gift was a thermal cup/glass with a pleasant traditional Japanese landscape painting on it.

Also appreciate the Business Centre which has three online PCs and is available 24/7 at no charge. This is a great benefit for those of us who eschew travelling with our laptops when on vacation, but still need to drop in on things from time to time.

Had a slight problem finding the hotel, as signs only appear once outside the JR station complex and these can be a bit misleading. But it is in the first tower to the right of the station exit. However, very convenient for arriving from NRT, and for getting around the city. (But a NEX/Suica card combo at the airport JR station office downstairs for just Y3500, includes oneway to any JR station in the metro Tokyo/Yokohama region, and Y1500 worth of travel on the Subways and JR routes in the region, plus Y500 refundable card deposit. Suica can be topped up at special kiosks, cash only there but cards are taken at the JR office at NRT for the basic package.)
