Used to be able to access from the mileage summary page, but that seems to be gone now. The only way I can do it now is to use the "request upgrade" link on the main united.com page (in the leftmost column of links). From there, you can get to a check upgrade account option. (There may be some more direct way by digging down into the exact Web address--not sure.)
