So is 5 hours door to door to FRA enough to tempt you?
Certainly not for out and back day business trips in FRA but Cologne in four hours for a lunch meeting would be just doable. The earliest direct flight from LHR to CGN is at around 9am for a 12 noon arrival. I'd have to leave home in central London at around 7am to make the 725 HEx to get me to the airport in time for that flight. Whereas I live just 5 mins from Kings Cross so a 7am departure from KXSP would mean only a few minutes difference between the two travel options.

Also, maybe the train would be ok to position for an ex FRA QF flight to Oz, if the train stopped at the airport.
