Ever watch a police/detective tv show? They often ask the same question multiple times, sometimes with different form or throwing a wrench in it, but that's a very common investigative technique.
Did you read the post that CXYYZ was responding to?
It is very obvious that the agent
DID NOT KNOW WHERE the country was.
The agent wanted the person to say that the country was in the Middle East at the worst. At the least they just did not know where the country was.
And I find it so disheartening that someone would actually try to use fictitious TV cop shows as a source in an argument on our real life DHS / BP agents. Although perhaps since they are both so sadly comical the similarities are not too far off.

If I was to ask you the same question 4-7 times, even if you were telling the truth (which the traveler had been) but I was asking it in a manner where I was trying to get another answer you would soon start to 1) question yourself or 2) get anxious or 3) get frustrated with me for fishing for info.
A cops stops you on the road and asks, "Where are you going?"
You answer, "To the supermarket."
The cop asks, "Where is that?"
You answer, "About a two miles down this road."
The cop asks, "Where are you going?"
You answer, "To the supermarket."
The cop says, "Isn't the supermarket in a bad part of town?"
You say, "No, I am going to X supermarket which is in the nice part of town."
The cop asks, "Where are you going?"
You answer, "To the supermarket."
The cop says, "Isn't the supermarket in a bad part of town?"
You say, "No, I am going to X supermarket which is in the nice part of town."
The cop asks, "Where are you going?"
You answer, "..."
The idea is the same... see how ridiculous it is?
