Thanks - just bought the adapter on eBay for $3 delivered(!)

I think I'll stick with the Wing. I shall stoically suffer the indignities of dial-up speed (whaddya want for $6 a month?) until T-Mobile rides to the rescue, rather than have anything to do with DeathStar Industries, Inc. Tried it once. Didn't fancy it.
