You can of course switch to Delta but at first I would fly a bit on AA just enough to get the miles to redeem an award instead of paying outrageous fees for a transfer !

They also have sme interesting 15K awards on short hops that are pretty expensive sometimes ! Just redeemed DFW-ATL and saved 460$ !
I was in no way attempting to be "clever" - I simply wanted to fly from point a to point b while I have respite care for my husband. I do not have the ability to travel much myself due to being his caretaker. My wish was just to use my miles and leave the program. Nothing fancy or original I can assure you. I have a significant amount of miles on Delta and USAir, and I will use them at some point in the future. I am sorry if my post to answer someone's question became so personal. It is not or at least it was not my intention to make this all about me.
