Since your husband can get you an award trip, for instance, I fail to see what the problem is in using his miles? I've certainly never experienced any difficulty using my miles for others, including friends and family.

If I am somehow missing something here, if you feel the miles can best be used by transferring them into your account, rather than directing your energies into upset at hapless AA Customer Service agents why not write the executive offices and explain your request and rationale?
