What tips/tricks would BA board regulars give us to take advantage of all the delights on our trip, onboard and at the airports?

I had a couple of questions initially.

1) Can one access the JNB arrivals lounge if connecting to
2) We only eat vegetarian food (or fish which has fins and scales).
Well done - very elusive. Some thoughts (as we do this once or twice a year). There's a debate about seats, but from experience 1ak are with the wardrobe in your face, and as you have breakfast, it will be. 2AK are close, private but spacious. You'd be surprised how many op-ups they fob off with 1ak.

On JNB arrivals, its a fair trek after immigration, so allow plenty of time. Unless you really need it, it might not be worth the hassle. BA uses Comair for its connections and their desk is slow slow slow. BA LHR are nt too on the ball at checking people through.

On the food, the F menu normally has fish, a good pasta dish, salad and normally a soup thats veggie , plus the usual fair. If you dont order a VLML or similar you may miss out on the canapes but that's it, in my experience. I'd be tempted to risk it, as the ex-LHR Veg food I've ever pre-ordered food can be dreary, even in F. Instead, I'd have a quiet word with the CSD or purser once you've boarded and go from there. That will alow them to put menu items asside for you fromt he start, and makes their life easier when it come sto meal orders. On the wine, they've recenlty had a better menu on that route (JNB) than across the pond (even if the bubbles choice is somewhat drab). Have fun.
