Post Cape Town / Johannesburg in first class

Just managed to score an extremely elusive award LHR-JNB-CPT-LHR in First class on BA using AA miles for next year...

What tips/tricks would BA board regulars give us to take advantage of all the delights on our trip, onboard and at the airports?

I had a couple of questions initially.

1) Can one access the JNB arrivals lounge if connecting to Cape Town, or is it on the landside and inaccessible for transfer passengers?
(edited to add: after searching, some information found here, but please add if anyone has anything else to suggest:

2) We only eat vegetarian food (or fish which has fins and scales). We're not so enthusiastic about pre-ordering vegetarian meals because we don't want to miss out on the smoked salmon/tuna/whatever fish that is served that we *can* eat. I also wonder whether BA's vegetarian meals will be as good as the standard first class catering.

Do we risk not being able to eat anything, or only side dishes, by not specifically ordering vegetarian meals in advance? And if we do order them, can we eat the foods we are able to eat from the standard meal, or would a standard meal not have been loaded if we ordered two VGMLs?

Many thanks for all the help and advice!
