I've done it, with fear and trepidation on longhaul, and it survived. A bottle of almond 'champagne' from a California winery and 5 glasses (we were blagging for 6, but a group of blondes walked in, and guy's attention shifted). In my defence, after wine-tasting at two different winerys in relatively quick succession, I thought it tasted lovely

Mercifully, it did survive. Centre of case, cushioned against my telescope tripod and wrapped in as many clothes as possible. It was with some relief I discovered nothing had gone wrong
