We stayed at the HWV and loved, loved, loved it!! Yes, it is big with a boat and monorail to help get around the resort but even walking, it was fine. We stayed in a ground floor room in the Lagoon tower (called a Dolphin Cabana). The Lagoon tower is the best for families - closest to the pool and Dolphin lagoon. We could walk out of our room and the pool was about 10 yards to the left and the Dolphins were about 10 yards to the right!! It was great. My son still talks about the Dolphin experience (we did the family quest) and going to Volcano Park.

This year, we decided on Oahu. We looked into the Marriott and Turtle Bay but friends who knew the island said they were too remote. We did not want to stay in Waikkii but didn't want to be too far so we are going to the Kahala Resort. Big items on our agenda for Oahu - Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head and Polynesian Culture Center.
