Yes, I am a Mesaba pilot. Many employees often buy full fare tickets when we HAVE to be somewhere and can't risk nonrevving. I made silver for 2007 by flying enough while I was taking a break from Mesaba. I just requalified for 2008 as well.

We used to also have this perk, which is now gone called "Fly confirmed for less with perks" which was essentially a 20% discount on any fare and we could earn miles.
