Just as importantly, need plenty of time to catch up any delays. Especially with so few a/c of that type (since higher capacity any change of equipment will cause problems), and especially when operating SYD route (due to SYD's curfew and sometimes bad weather issues).

If SQ operated the a/c with no down time then any delay more than a few minutes would force flights to be cancelled to make get back onto schedule.
