Do the ski destinations there not offer rental equipment?

I don't mean to be snide, but as someone who often travels to ski, I'm generally prepared to not have my skis upon arrival... it certainly wouldn't result in a "busted vacation."

My fiancee is a bit more particular with her ski boots and will often carry them on.
