On the day of travel, October 22 (Monday), she went to BEY and was told by BA/BMED that the flight was canceled and that she was directed to fly to FCO and connect on another BA flight to LHR on the same day to be able to catch her AA135 flight that same day.

Well guess what, when she got to FCO there was nobody there to help her. The airport was employee deserted due to a Strike. She was given another ticket on US Airways from FCO-PHL-LAX the following day!!!!

No food vouchers, no hotel, no nothing was given!

There was no flight to LHR. She spent the night at FCO on a bench.

Well she finally arrived on Wednesday here at LAX with US on a super long layover at PHL, but of course what was missing???? her bags.

Called BA, they can't figure out where they are up till now. Go figure.

So, this is what im planning to do, and I would appreciate if you guys can give me some tips:

a.) Im going to complain to AA

What kind of compensation do you think I can expect?

b.) Write a letter to BA for the missing bags

Just received my 1500 USD check from them from last December. Hopefully my aunt can get one of those.

c.) Complaint letter to BA for the handling of the pax at FCO and BEY (they knew that there was a strike, so they just sent her where available and let the other station deal with it. ( I think)

What kind of compensation do you think I can expect?

Any tips would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Drew

Drew,

What is with this mentality of compensation? Traveling these days is not easy, shift happens, It is USAirways' responoisbility, the last carrier is responsible for the bags.
I think you are at fault for putting your aunt who is a novice flyer through LHR.
Even for frequent flyers, LHR is a mess, but someone who can't get a visa and doesn't speak the language?
On RJ, at least she can talk to people in Arabic (that is the languge that Lebanese people speak) and have an easier time.
I hope I'm not being too harsh but looking for a jackpot is nuts.
