I don't blame you for your fears about the product... and in fact they probably should investigate. The question will be whether this is an isolated incident or if other people are experiencing similar reactions. (It's very difficult to make a broad conclusion based on a single case.)

As for products in China in particular -- I'm not discounting your concerns at all. I do, however, want to point out to others that there has been a particular media frenzy creating fear of the "Made in China" label. "Made in China" does not in itself represent shoddiness or lack of safety, as of course, billions of dollars in products are safely made there. And while people in China may be willing to cut corners to supply certain goods demanded at ridiculously cheap prices, the responsibility for those products should lie squarely on the shoulders of the multi-nationals who have failed to do their job at monitoring and specing out the products.
