I shop very carefully for travel clothes as many items sold via catalog and internet are heavy. I favor a lot of silk which is naturally light in weight. I don't like Chico's travel wear for weight issues. I like Tilley for quality.

I invested years ago in having a black custom made travel jacket in a blazer style with the pockets and such that you see in a Tilley or TravelSmith. It has served me very well both for day and evening wear. I put very good buttons on the jacket which helps the quality appearance. My Lady Boss put me on to this idea. For a significant birthday she gave me a qift certificate to the company that made the jacket.

You can go a lot further with less if you have quality. I don't travel with cheap junk. Also I never check a bag with my best clothes in it. I wear them or carry on.
