Flew PDX-DTW yesterday (Thursday) AM, and no love - EUA or BF UG - on this flight. I was surprised not to get an UG on a Thursday AM, as I expect this during the normal Thursday PM-Friday PM and Sunday PM-Monday consultant ghetto periods. With the end-of-program-year elite swelling and continued reduced schedule, IMO this doesn't bode well for myself and fellow Golds.

So, wonder if UGs will only be likely now on Tues-Wed and Saturdays - the only days of the week outside of the elite-heavy periods listed above? Since I travel for work, I may be SOL until March 1 of next year.

(Oh, also wanted to add - a bit OT - that the GA in PDX told me that my chances were really good. I got off my HNL inbound and only had 20 minutes before boarding began, due to an aborted landing and go-around. I explained that I wanted to know my chances at the BF UG since I hadn't eaten in hours, but didn't want to pickup breakfast to-go if I was going to be UG'ed. She responded that "My chances look really good - #1 on the waitlist - so I (her) wouldn't pick up anything." Well, turns out no dice on the UG <grr...> and now it's too late to get anything, lest I lose out on the overhead space for my rollaboard. Good thing I had an energy/breakfast bar in my laptop bag or it would have really been a long, miserable flight - and it was way too early for a stinkin' "SmartSnacks" box. I would have really preferred something hot after flying all night, even on my own nickle.

I know the GA's are "damned if you do, damned if you don't" for telling us our standing on the waitlist, but I'm a reasonable guy and would have gotten the food to go if I detected any hesitation in her voice. She just seemed absolutely confident about my UG chances, so I took her advice to sit tight. Bad call in this case.)
