Stayed there for 10 nights in Feb/Mar this past winter with my wife and two children (aged 9 and 11 at the time).
Loved the food. The formal restaurant had "theme" dinners - some nights Italian, etc. I loved the food - always a seafood option. I enjoyed the wine list - the waiter often gave me a bottle to take back to the room. I made reservations in person at 7:00 every morning, as it fills up rapidly, and we preferred the early sitting.
I also "reserved" loungers by the pool at the same time. Place your pool towels and a personal article (book, sandal, etc.) on the loungers. You must arrive by 10:00 or 11:00, or the pool staff will remove them, as reserving is not allowed.
We used the pool closest to the ocean - the other one was more relaxed, and had some shade.
Speaking of shade - take sun block with you, or buy a name brand at the Wal-Mart. The local stuff doesn't work very well.
Buffet breakfast in the main restaurant was great - omlette chef or other standard and Mexican choices.
The restaurant by the beach was also nice, but we usually ate breakfast and dinner in the formal restuarant and had burgers by the pool for lunch.
I think it was Sunday night you eat on the beach - traditional Mexican food and entertainment. Loved it.
We spent most of our time in or beside the pool - lots of volleyball. I think my wife fell for Carlos at the swim-up bar! He (and his fellow workers) made nice virgin drinks for the kids, too! Other activities were available, such as water exercises, games/sports, and kids activities.
The property was always clean. The room service convenient and fast - although the selection was not the best all the time. But they would bring pizza, wine, beer, etc any time. But, the restaurant at the beach was always available for take out.
There was a BBQ beside the pool, making burgers and hot dogs from about 10:30 until ... I don't remember, probably close to dinner time.
I had a massage on the beach and a round of golf across the street for my birthday. Both were excellent! The golf was pricey, but, what can you expect.
Tours and excursions can be arranged daily. We only took one, and a taxi to the flea market once as well, preferring to stay and relax by the pool. They may try to sell you a "vacation experience" - 90 minutes, should be interpreted loosely.
Weather was perfect. Not a cloud. Sunny and hot (not sure how hot) - but not dripping with sweat.
Would I do it again? Yes, but would try to get a better price on a last minute deal. This was booked and paid for in advance, so not cheap.
I think it is better to pay in local currency, but US dollars are welcome everywhere.
Enjoy!
