As has been mentioned in FT many times, your upgrade changes depend a great deal on what cities you fly into and out of. Having said that, my wife is lifetime Gold, I am lifetime Platinum. I'd say her upgrade success has been about 50%, mine about 90%. So yes, I'd definitely GO for it!
