This happens to me periodically on check in. The clerk asks me which company I'm visiting. Normally, it's not a big deal but sometimes I work with companies that want strict confidentiality. It's weird to be put on the spot.

Why does Marriott do this? Do they want a contact in case of an emergency or walkout? Are they collecting stats so that they can offer deals to local businesses? Looking to see whether there is a deal in place?
