My husband is a principal at a public elementary school and they got into this program several years ago. We continually re-load our card (charging to Delta AMEX) and use for all Kroger purchases including gas which really adds up. I get double miles everytime I re-load the card and help out my husband's school. I just recently started buying the other gift cards Kroger displays near the checkout (Applebees, iTunes, etc.) and pay for them with my Kroger gift card which I purchased with AMEX, thus getting double miles for some purchases that would not normally get double miles.
Julie,
This is exactly the program that the Scrip program is now taking part in. I don't think they were doing it last year as a part of the Scrip program.

Your idea on the display gift cards is a great one! Thanks for sharing.
