7400-1400 = 6000 / 2 = 3000$ would be a reasonable compensation since it reflects the real value for someone on full fare.
This wouldn't even be compensation. The $3000 is only the price difference. Compensation should come on top of that because you are inconvenienced by traveling in Y, you will be (even more) tired for your meeting the next morning etc.
