For me, I have no sympathy for the FA union. They remind me of professional athletes... they force their employer to sign a long term deal that guarantees security... and then when things change or someone else gets something better... they expect to be able to get changes for free.
Come on! You wanted a 10 year contract for security. You got it... honor it! Next time... do not negotiate it if you are not willing to stand behind it.
If the merger triggers renegotiation in your contract, then so be it. But doesn't the merger have to happen first? What if you forced United to renegotiate your contract... and then the government said no to the merger? Then what? Would you give back the gains in the renegotiation? I sincerely doubt you would.
