In the past, I have bought Walmart/Sam's Club gift cards at Walmart (to get miles at Sam's Club) and had no problem with the mileage posting.
I thought that was the case. But I did want to bring the Scrip issue out for anyone who might be participating in that program. This is new for this year, and I only found out about it because I actually read one of the sheets that came home with the children. Often times I just throw them away unread. The school has not done a good job publicizing this change, and I don't think they realize that many people are trying to get miles on their credit cards.
