Observation while being screened in Las Vegas

I was leaving Las Vegas and got to the preferred line at about 06:00 the 4 people in front of me went through while keeping their shoes on. I commented to the screener that I was surprised that I did not need to take off my shoes. He informed me that I did need too take them off and that the people who went through before me worked at the airport and that was the reason why they could keep them on.
I then asked him if they ever considered the fact that a airport employee might be working together with another person ? And that they could then bring something through and then pass it off to the other person. He did not like the question.
Once again a case of no security. BTW, this was the USAIR terminal in LAS for those who want to know.
