What NOT to do when cancelling a flight on co.com within the 24 hours
Hello All,
I am not sure if this thread belongs her on in the Co.com Master Thread. Please let me
know.
I booked a ticked on co.com in August, and then had to cancel within the 24 hr window. I
elected to get a credit on co.com, fully expecting to have to book another flight
shortly. Well, I am just now using it and just got hit with a $100.00 change fee. I have
already worked out how I feel about this policy with CO directly. Some folks there
understand and agree, most simply don't understand why I have an issue with this, but I
digress.
My issue is, when canceling a flight (on co.com), withing the 24hr window. You will be
presented with the "Cancellation Details Window" .Toward the bottom of the window, there
are 2 "Credit Toward" options;
1. My original form of payment
2. A future flight purchase. Please note the confirmation number above and return to this
cancelled reservation in Manage Reservations to make changes for a future trip.
These are not equal, they appear to be equal. The future flight purchase options acts
exactly like an existing ticket, with all the rules that apply. This includes change
fees. The original form of payment option, has no restrictions on how I use it. There is
no disclaimer/warning that this is the case. So needless to say, I was surprised. I only
ask that a little additional information be added to option 2, so the user can make an
informed decision.
