I'm SPG Platinum, and plan to stay that way. That said, there are nights where SPG hotels just aren't available (due to location, price, booking, whatever). I would guess 10+ stays a year aren't with SPG. I would like to get the benefit of these stays with another hotel program, but haven't decided which one.

My travel is always domestic and sometimes includes smaller cities that may be serviced by Hampton Inn like hotels.

I am primarily interested in upgrades rather than point accumulations. I would be particularly interested in programs with a credit card that helps go to status.

I'm guessing some of you SPG folk are in the same boat and I'm anxious to hear your experiences. Thanks.
