The question in my mind is whether those rooms (and it sounds like the OP got one) are SO bad that the hotel really should never rent them at all. From the sounds of it, the OP's room was in the "so bad they shouldn't" category. Therefore, I'd say the OP is right to feel sleighted and is justified in complaining.

trust me, it was that bad of a room to where if it is one of those ¨last minute, worst case scenario¨ types of rooms, they really should NOT offer it. Had I had another alternative, I would have checked out and gone elsewhere, but it was this or nothing. It was not a good position to be in.
To get a second opinion, I invited an unbias friend to come see the room and tell me what he thought. Quite frankly he agreed that this was NOT an acceptable guest room offering at a luxury property and was appalled at the rate I was paying for such room.
