A little off topic, but in response to the above, and it may vary by bank, but my US bank has always worked with my debit card RE disputes etc, just as if it was a credit card. They remove the charge immediately, investigate and respond. I have been successful with every dispute. When I was burgled and my card stolen, along with credit cards, I was responsible for zero on the debit card after filing and affa davit as to which charges were not mine. I've had great success getting 'cash advances' against the Visa aspect of the debit card and paying no fee at all for foreign currency using this method as well as getting the very best rate. All in all, I've been very happy with debit cards though the CC's still work better for rental car coverage and some other things.
