Is 2 month Gold membership worth 7,500 BA miles?

Is 2 month Gold membership worth 7,500 BA miles?

I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I am just under 80 TPs to become Gold. My Silver year ends 8th of March 2008, so thinking of doing a CE trip in February to get promoted to Gold, just in time for T5 opening.

I had the opportunity to become Gold much earlier, but wanted to time it in a way that I can use most of my Gold year for T5. So what should I do with those TPs and miles that I did not claim for? The 6 months deadline to claim for these passes on 23 December and if I were to claim, I’d get about 7,500 BA miles and 160 TPs.

So I have 2 choices:

1. Take a CE flight in December promoting me to Gold and then assuming my Gold year will end in Jan 2009. However I also assume that when claiming the missing miles and TPs, BA computer system will not reset my Gold promotion to June, because of my back-claim? Am I wrong?

2. Leave it as it is, not complicate it and forget about the 7,500 miles. They’re not worth loosing 2 “Gold months” for.

What do you guys think?

PS: In Jan we are going F to NRT and back J from BKK, so would Gold bring any benefits? The only thing I can think of is the F lounge in BKK and a possible op-up (highly unlikely as it is a 241 trip)
