Google will stop indexing the page if Google, by Google's own secret algorithms, stops thinking that the pages at hand are worthwhile to list.

You are right that the non-credible content will be pushed down before it is purged, but if there is a sheer plethora of credible information, eventually the stuff that Google finds to have no credible relation to the keywords searched with, will in fact be purged from the results.

This isn't an easy task to accomplish but it has been done. For example>>try searching for something using the keyword "ebay" that doesn't have to do with ebay inc. You can bet your *ss that some random mention of the keyword "ebay" is not going to be indexed anymore.

It still is my advice to just wait it out. If the reference has been deleted, eventually google will update their index and stop displaying those pages when you search on your name. Good luck!
