I would stop by customer service on the way to the flight to complain that wasn't handled correctly (not that they can do much after the fact, I'd guess)
Hi,

Sorry, my wording was not very clear. I was given hotel and a meal voucher and put up with my fellow pax at the LAX Radisson, which was a fine hotel, if only for a few hours. The part about no other compensation was that there was no other miles/dollars/monetary compensation otherwise for the lost time etc.

However, my trip did not go as planned after the rebooking. I was finally able to get to sleep about 2 am and had a wake up call for 4:30am to catch the 5am shuttle for the 6:28 boarding. But, damn, I slept through and awoke at 6:15am! I started to dress, mind in a whirling fog, when I realized, I just wasn't gonna make it. So, I called UA Elite res and the nice fellow helped me get the next flight up to SFO as the earliest OAK flight would have gotten me in too late. Rerouted my Rent-a-car to SFO with a 1 way charge to OAK of $20 extra, so far, so good.

Checked in UA Premium Term. 6 and was given exit row aisle on the 757 which I dare say was nicer than having to take the CRJ-200 up at the crack of dawn. Everything was cozy, even signed the Hemispheres magazine and started to settle in. Wanted to dial up channel 9 and --- no IFE indicator was on. Asked 2 FA's about channel 9 and one said they'd look into it, and the other said if the captain hasn't by now, Channel 9 would not be available. Fair enough, if the Captain says no, that's his perogative. But, aside for using the PA for safety and status announcements, the IFE was left turned off for almost the entire flight.

When I asked another FA, about 1/2 way, again they looked into the IFE but it didn't turn on still. Finally, I asked the FA for a Skykit, and she said "What is that?". I expained the audio issue, and then she brought me form which she filled out and apologized for the lack of audio on this flight. Curious, I've never been on a flight without IFE when it was available without an explanation. Obviously, the PA part was working though.

Anywho, got to SFO but found my RAC was denied because a recent small accident put me over their limit and they denied my reservation/booking. So I had to take BART from SFO to OAK where my friend finally picked me up.

Had to borrow his '75 Toyota pickup 4 wheeler to drive back to SFO for a Surgeon's Conference, looked real good pulling into the SF Downtown Marriott, hehe!

Thanks for listening, I feel a little better.

Regards,

Bart
